Donate to The Recreation Division of Boston Parks and Recreation

The mission of the Parks and Recreation Department is to maintain clean, green, safe, accessible, and well programmed park land for Boston residents.  This includes more than 2,200 acres of open space consisting of parks, playgrounds, athletic facilities, city squares, urban wilds, street trees, three active cemeteries, 16 historic burying grounds and two golf courses.

The Boston Parks and Recreation Department (BPRD) Recreation division creates and manages sports leagues, Mayor's Cup tournaments, and clinics for Boston youth.  We are also responsible for the Boston Neighbor Basket League, which was established in 1969 and today is known for being the oldest municipal neighborhood basketball league in the United States. All events, series and programs are free of charge for to our youth.  Our programs include baseball, softball, golf, tennis, soccer, rowing basketball, football, hockey, lacrosse, track and field, and wrestling. The programs are financed via funding from non-profits and not with taxpayers dollars.

Boston Parks and Recreation Department's youth recreation series and events improve quality of life and economic balance by providing convenient, free, quality instructional and team building programs to underserved communities.  We provide environmental justice minority and low-income neighborhoods with first-rate sports training and experiences. Serving several demographics including at-risk populations and children whose families cannot afford summer sports camps, leagues, or sport-specific series, these events and programs provide a vital means to bring safe and enriching programs to the parks in these densely populated areas.

Your donations allow us to carry out our goal to grow and strengthen the free youth recreation programs offered by the Boston Parks and Recreation department.  Donations to the Fund would guarantee delivery of our promise to provide free, quality, sports enrichment and employment opportunities to the youth we serve.  Donations to the Fund for Parks and Recreation in Boston (tax ID #04-2784811) are tax-deductible.
