Welcome to the Bardbarian Zeffy Page! The Bardbarians are Bard High School Early College&rsquo;s (BHSEC) open division high school Ultimate Frisbee team. We were founded in 2005 and this is our 20th year! Our team has a strong tradition of player leadership and voice, and a deep commitment to inclusion. We are a walk-on team in a racially and economically diverse NYC public school. Our mission is to spread the joy of playing ultimate, develop community and camaraderie, and compete competitively and with spirit (this is frisbee&rsquo;s unique vision of sportspersonship on and off the field). We need your help because Ultimate Frisbee is not an official sport in NYC public schools. The Bardbarians do not receive any funding from the Department of Education or the school. Our costs include: uniforms, entrance fees to tournaments, a stipend for our volunteer coaches, and travel expenses like food and hotels when we compete outside the city. In the past, our team was funded through direct asks to the families of players. The demographics of BSHEC has changed, and now almost 50% of our students qualify for Title 1 eligibility, which means that our diverse community includes many families who cannot pay to participate on this team. We want the Bardbarians to be fully accessible to any student who wants to play ultimate and we do not want students to be burdened with the stress of asking for financial assistance or disclosing financial need. We are committed to developing an annual budget and funding the entire team regardless of any player&#39;s ability to pay. We think public school clubs should be accessible to all students and that economic diversity makes our team and community stronger. We want the Bardbarians to reflect the incredible diversity of BHSEC. Please help our team meet our annual fundraising goal and build a more accessible and inclusive ultimate frisbee experience at BHSEC.
