On Friday, September 25, homeless veterans across the Charlotte area will gather at the South Charlotte VA for the annual Veteran Stand Down &mdash; a one-day event connecting them with housing resources, medical care, and community support. Central Mecklenburg American Legion Post 321 will be there, and we&rsquo;re not showing up empty-handed. Our goal: provide every veteran who walks through that gate with a backpack filled with essential supplies &mdash; hygiene items, socks, weather gear, and the basics most of us take for granted. These are men and women who wore the uniform. Right now, they&rsquo;re sleeping in cars, shelters, and on the street. For one day, we can put something useful in their hands and remind them their community hasn&rsquo;t forgotten them. How you can help: Donate &mdash; Every dollar goes directly to backpacks and supplies. No overhead, no middleman. Share &mdash; Most people have no idea this event exists. Forward this to a friend, post it, talk about it. Volunteer &mdash; We need hands to pack bags prior to the event and people on-site during. Reach out if you can give a few hours.
