Rodeo as a Path to Healing and RecoveryFor many veterans and active-duty service members, the transition from military service, deployments, injuries, and daily operational stress can create challenges that are difficult to overcome alone. Rodeo and horsemanship provide more than just a sport&mdash;they offer a sense of purpose, camaraderie, teamwork, and personal growth that many participants find essential to their healing journey.Working with horses requires trust, patience, discipline, and emotional regulation. These skills help participants rebuild confidence, manage stress, and develop healthy coping mechanisms. The rodeo community also provides a supportive network of peers who understand the unique experiences of military service, helping reduce feelings of isolation that can contribute to depression, anxiety, and thoughts of suicide.Programs like those offered by the Fort Drum Rodeo &amp; Equestrian Club (FDREC) create opportunities for veterans and active-duty personnel to connect with others, challenge themselves, and rediscover a sense of belonging. By fostering meaningful relationships and promoting physical and mental wellness, rodeo can play an important role in helping address the veteran suicide crisis and supporting those who have sacrificed so much for our nation.Your support makes a difference. Donations to this fundraiser will help offset travel, lodging, and competition expenses for FDREC&#39;s veterans, active-duty service members, and support team as they represent our organization at the PAFRA Finals in Pawhuska, Oklahoma, this October.
