Our Mission: To assist in financially supporting and promoting public awareness Custer County Search & Rescue in Custer, South Dakota. Standing Behind Those Who Answer the Call:When someone is lost in the backcountry, trapped by a sudden wild-land fire, or injured on a technical climb, the volunteers of Custer County Search & Rescue (CCSAR) don’t hesitate. They leave their jobs, their beds, and their families to venture out into the harshest elements and toughest terrain. Responding to over 100 emergency calls a year, these brave men and women ask for no personal gain—just a smile and a "thank you." What Makes Our Cause SpecialCuster County SAR operates on a simple, powerful principle: There is never a charge to a subject for their services or expenses. A person's financial situation should never dictate whether they receive life-saving help. However, saving lives safely requires highly specialized gear, continuous training, and reliable vehicles. Custer County Search & Rescue is an all-volunteer organization that receives limited county funding, so our team's readiness relies on people like you. Why Your Support Matters TodayEvery dollar donated to Friends of CCSAR directly equips a rescuer and impacts a life. 100% of your tax-deductible contribution goes straight toward the critical tools our volunteers need to survive and succeed:

Essential Safety Gear: Radios, survival packs, wildland fire gear, and advanced first aid kits.

Specialized Rescue Equipment: Rigging for technical mountain rescues, ice rescue gear, and medical supplies.

Fleet Readiness: Purchases and vehicles beyond the operational county budget.

CCSAR volunteers willingly sacrifice their time and safety to protect our community and its visitors.
