Myrtle Roberson Creech came from a family of plumbers and spent more than fifty years in the trade in Eastern North Carolina. She started her own business with two hundred dollars and a few tools. This fund exists so that the price of starting is never the thing that stops someone. Awards are made to individuals entering the trade or continuing their education, without regard to formal education, degree enrollment, or prior credential. The number and amount of awards is set annually by the Board according to funds available. Selection is made by her two sons, Stacy and Travis Creech.
