It&rsquo;s hard enough to make it these days with two people working but when you only have one doing three jobs and still being beaten it takes all anyone can do to just survive. This is from Monica&rsquo;s heart.Over the last six years, we have faced more challenges than we ever could have imagined. During COVID, we were blessed to be able to keep working. We were a two-person operation, found resources when we needed them, and we truly praised God for His provision during that season. Then, late in 2020, everything changed. We found ourselves fighting for custody of our grandson. What was supposed to be a $4,000 ordeal ultimately cost more than $25,000. Every penny was worth it&mdash;because he was worth it&mdash;but much of that expense went onto credit cards, believing we would eventually be able to manage it. Then came 2022. Rick underwent major back surgery and heart surgery. By 2023, he ended up in septic shock. What followed has been nearly three years of recovery, more than eight surgeries, and lifelong physical, mental, and emotional repercussions. Through those hospital stays and difficult seasons, our friends and family stepped in and helped us tremendously. We will forever be grateful. But some of those seasons also created additional debt. This year, we made the difficult decision to surrender the credit cards and stop using them altogether. We are committed to not going back down that road. Unfortunately, the consequences remain&mdash;lower credit, limited borrowing options, and the inability to qualify for things like a home equity loan because Rick is no longer able to work. And that brings us to where we are today. I have worked my entire life, and by the grace of God, I don&#39;t intend to stop now. But the years of doing everything we could to keep our family going are beginning to take their toll. Both of the businesses I operate are in luxury-service industries. Over the past year, we have seen a significant decline in clients, increased competition in our area, and fewer opportunities to work together through our entertainment business. My cleaning income has steadily declined. In February, I was down about $1,000 in accounts. By April, it was around $1,200. Last month, cancellations put me down more than $1,500. When families have to cut something from their budgets, unfortunately, a house cleaner is often one of the first things to go. The decline has caught up with us. We have had to make payment arrangements on major utilities, and we are currently a month behind on our mortgage. At the same time, we&#39;ve had electrical, plumbing, and air-conditioning problems. Our bathtub has been leaking through the ceiling. Rick tried to repair it, but physically he simply cannot get underneath the house and troubleshoot the problem anymore. So for now, we live with one bathroom. Then our AC drain flooded the basement. We eventually got that taken care of, but getting the water out was a major ordeal. Last month, our AC went out completely. We&#39;ve determined that the unit needs to be replaced, so for now we are getting by with two window units. But the bigger concern is the electrical work that needs to be addressed. We are genuinely concerned about the possibility of a fire if it isn&#39;t corrected. We don&#39;t see a new air conditioner being financially possible right now. The approximate $2,000 repair, along with roughly $4,000 in overdue bills, would make an enormous difference in helping us get stabilized before winter. We&#39;ve considered downsizing our home, but at this point we don&#39;t believe that&#39;s the wisest choice. Our mortgage, including escrow, is only about $1,100 a month. We have a low-interest, low-payment home that we&#39;ve worked hard to build equity in. Moving would also require a physical and emotional energy that neither Rick nor I really have right now. So for now, we are trusting God to show us the next step. And that&#39;s actually why I&#39;m writing this. Over the past several weeks, at least five or six people have reached out and asked, &quot;How can we help?&quot; I am not particularly comfortable being on the receiving end. I have always much preferred being the one who gives, helps, and finds a way to make things happen. I honestly thought this season of receiving would have been over by now. Apparently, God isn&#39;t finished teaching us through it. So, with humility, here is the information for those who have asked. If you feel led to help us get caught up and address the urgent repairs on our home, we would be incredibly grateful. There is absolutely no pressure or expectation. Your prayers, encouragement, friendship, and support mean more to us than we can put into words. We are especially thankful for our grandson&#39;s health and continued well-being, for the friends and family God has placed around us, and for the strength and health He has given me to keep moving forward.
