Ella first came to Adoption First Animal Rescue in 2019 when she was approximately 5 years old. This little 15-pound Pomeranian/Chihuahua mix came to us from a county shelter, and in early 2020, she found what we hoped would be her forever home. For more than six years, Ella was part of a family. Then, in August 2026, Ella came back to us. At 10 years old, Ella was experiencing medical problems that her family could no longer afford to manage. She had significant hair loss over her back end, arthritis and pain affecting her back paws, and multiple lumps and bumps covering her little body. What initially looked like cysts turned out to be tumors. Ella underwent surgery, and 14 masses were removed from her 15-pound body. Several were sent to the laboratory for biopsy. The results brought both scary and encouraging news. Two of the tumors tested were cancerous: a Grade I soft tissue sarcoma and a low-grade mast cell tumor. Thankfully, both were completely removed with clear surgical margins. The other tumors tested were benign. Now we&#39;re asking for help covering $870 in medical care for Ella. Her care has included bloodwork, surgery to remove the masses, extensive pathology testing, pain and anti-inflammatory medications, treatment for her itching and skin problems, and the care needed to get this little senior girl comfortable again. Ella came back to us with some very big medical needs&mdash;but she also came back to the rescue that made a commitment to her all those years ago. Our goal is $870. Every $5, $10 or $20 gets Ella a little closer to having her medical bill completely covered. And once it&#39;s covered, those rescue dollars can go right back toward helping the next animal who needs us.Ella needed us again. We&#39;re here. ❤️
