🌟 Support Amelia Parker for Mayor🌟 Amelia Parker, At-Large Seat C representative on the Knoxville City Council since 2019, is running for Mayor of Knoxville in the 2027 election. Councilwoman Parker, a human rights advocate and longtime community organizer, has built a record on Council centered on affordable housing, government transparency and accountability, and expanding public services to historically underserved individuals and neighborhoods. She was the first African American elected to an at-large seat on the Council and was reelected to a second term in 2023. "I am running to give the voters of Knoxville an option for Mayor who has the experience and has shown the commitment to working towards a Knoxville for All. I understand the challenges ahead and I’m ready to work with the people of Knoxville to face them. I’m also excited for the opportunities to come for our city and am committed to ensuring that who has access to those opportunities is not determined by what zip code a person lives in, what family they come from, or the amount of money in their pocket," says Parker. Parker's platform will focus on affordability, public safety and mental health services, government accountability and transparency, and economic prosperity that reaches all neighborhoods. More details about her platform will be shared as her campaign develops. Parker and her team will announce plans for a campaign launch party before yearend.  Visit voteameliaparker.com to learn more about Councilwoman Parker’s priorities while on Council as well as her upcoming campaign for Mayor.  ——- Knoxville City Councilwoman Amelia Parker has dedicated her career to helping people, often who have been ignored by their government, to achieve justice for themselves, their communities, and the land, working domestically as well as internationally for the past 30 years.  From 2009 to 2013, she served as the Executive Director of Statewide Organizing for Community eMpowerment (SOCM), which organizes to empower communities around social, economic, and environmental justice issues in Tennessee. In 2014, Amelia joined Peace Brigades International-USA as their Executive Director, further amplifying her commitment to human rights advocacy. When she was hired at PBI-USA, the non-profit held over $60,000 in debt. As she prepares to step down as executive director in order to serve as Knoxville’s mayor, she leaves the organization with a $150,000 reserve. “I am proud of the work we have achieved at PBI-USA over the past 12 years, especially in terms of strengthening the organization’s financial stability. I feel confident that I am leaving the organization in good hands and with a strong financial footing for the next executive director,” Parker shares.  While on city council, Amelia has served as the City Council representative on the Knoxville Transportation Authority Board from Dec. 2019-2021 and she served on the Audit Committee from Dec. 2019-2025. She currently serves as the City Council representative on the Knoxville Community Media Board (formerly referred to as Community Television or CTV). Since taking office, Amelia has received the Local Legislator of the Year Award from the National Homelessness Law Center in 2023 and the Danny Mayfield Champion of Change Award from Community Shares of East TN in 2026.  The primary election for the Mayor of Knoxville will be held on August 31, 2027.
