The Sunshine Closet provides support for homeless, home-insecure and in-need students. Our programming is coordinated through the Social Work Department at MJHS, and your donations go directly to students and their families through projects like these: Scholarships to Seniors: We provide need-based scholarships to seniors through an application process. Awards go toward post-high school education including college, apprenticeships, military and other technical training. Dorm Essentials: We provide dorm items to graduating seniors with demonstrated need. We have found that even students who receive full financial aid packages, may struggle to pull together the initial supply of items they need to move into a dorm room.  We provide dorm kits including bedding, towels, kitchenware, shower caddy, garbage can, lamp, school supplies, and laundry hamper and detergent to help make the move to college an easier one. Gift Cards for meals, groceries and transportation: Gift cards help defray food costs and help students attend after-school activities when families do not have a vehicle and cannot afford the transportation expenses. Senior Dues & Prom Assistance: 2025 senior dues start at $281 per student. Prom tickets cost $125. As resources allow, we assist our neediest families with partial assistance of these fees so that more students can participate in senior activities and attend their graduation ceremony. Emergency Funds: We provide assistance to families experiencing emergencies as our resources allow.  In the past, we have provided help with temporary hotel stays for homeless families, medical expenses, funeral expenses, and utilities. Resource Closet: We maintain a closet with snacks, clothing, school supplies and hygiene products which social workers can access on behalf of students with needs. Thank you for your donation.
