Empezamos en julio de 2005, con la bendici&oacute;n de Su Eminencia, el Metropolitano +Nicol&aacute;s de Amissos, el antiguo obispo gobernante de la Di&oacute;cesis Ortodoxa Carpatorrusa Americana de EE. UU., se dieron los primeros pasos para establecer una parroquia ortodoxa en Lakeland, Florida.&nbsp; Lakeland es una comunidad rural entre dos ciudades principales en la Interestatal 4 (Tampa a 45 minutos al oeste y Orlando a 45 minutos al este). Nuestra primera liturgia fue el 14 de agosto de 2005, en la casa de su pastor, el Padre Nicol&aacute;s Wyborski. Su Eminencia, el Obispo Metropolitano Gregorio de Nisa, asign&oacute; al Padre Demetrious Glimidakis como el sacerdote a tiempo completo de la parroquia en enero de 2019.&nbsp; Aunque Covid en 2020 mantuvo a la gente con miedo, la parroquia recurri&oacute; a las redes sociales y comenz&oacute; a transmitir servicios diarios e incorporar muchos servicios durante la semana. In January 2019, His Eminence, Metropolitan Bishop Gregory of Nyssa, assigned Fr. Demetrious Glimidakis as the first full-time priest of the parish. Although Covid in 2020 kept people in fear, we took to social media and to streaming daily services and incorporating many weekday services. Growing a large online following, and expanding local outreach ministry, the parish has significantly outgrown the double wide trailer with many young ethnically diverse converts to the Orthodox Christian Faith, including many children and inquirers. In 2023, we began the planning stages of a permanent 2-story church that could accommodate 2 Divine Liturgies on a Sunday morning, when we began projecting growth. We started architectural, environmental and development planning. (The long-term plan is an $4 million venture, and a lot of the&nbsp;engineering and architectural plans have already been financed by the parish, as this is a much slower process building an Orthodox Church from scratch instead of a prefab one.)&nbsp;Even expanding our parking lot to accommodate the growth projections. Reasons For Expansion&hellip;Currently having more than 160+ people (adults &amp; children)&nbsp;from all walks of life, various backgrounds, various ethnicities, and varying ages. We receive many visitors and inquirers coming into the parish and offer many opportunities for those within the parish including women&rsquo;s, men&rsquo;s and youth gatherings, boardgame days, movie events, as well as Sunday School, catechism classes and a homeschool co-op. We have a very active vocations ministry, where altar servers are encouraged to assist with Reader services&nbsp;and community events. For us to act quickly and accommodate the people we have now, we need an estimated $350,000 to cover the loan/interest and expenses of a supporting structure with concrete base. We have volunteer laborers from our parish in fields of plumbing, electrical, construction, metalwork and woodwork, but the costs of lumber, concrete, etc. is what is causing the cost to rise for us.&nbsp; We are working on the immediate needs of the people we serve now with a 4,800-5,000 sq. ft. simple steel frame construction which more than DOUBLES are existing doublewide trailer! &nbsp; In order to make this happen, we need help from you! Growing a large online following, and expanding local outreach ministry, the parish has significantly outgrown the double wide trailer with many young ethnically diverse converts to the Orthodox Christian Faith, including many children and inquirers. In 2023, we began the planning stages of a permanent 2-story church that could accommodate 2 Divine Liturgies on a Sunday morning, when we began projecting growth. We started architectural, environmental and development planning. (The long-term plan is an $4 million venture, and a lot of the engineering and architectural plans have already been financed by the parish, as this is a much slower process building an Orthodox Church from scratch instead of a prefab one.) Even expanding our parking lot to accommodate the growth projections. Reasons For Expansion…Currently having more than 160+ people (adults &amp; children) from all walks of life, various backgrounds, various ethnicities, and varying ages. We receive many visitors and inquirers coming into the parish and offer many opportunities for those within the parish including women’s, men’s and youth gatherings, boardgame days, movie events, as well as Sunday School, catechism classes and a homeschool co-op. We have a very active vocations ministry, where altar servers are encouraged to assist with Reader services and community events. For us to act quickly and accommodate the people we have now, we need an estimated $350,000 to cover the loan/interest and expenses of a supporting structure with concrete base. We have volunteer laborers from our parish in fields of plumbing, electrical, construction, metalwork and woodwork, but the costs of lumber, concrete, etc. is what is causing the cost to rise for us.  We are working on the immediate needs of the people we serve now with a 4,800-5,000 sq. ft. simple steel frame construction which more than DOUBLES are existing doublewide trailer!   In order to make this happen, we need help from you!
