Honor the Missing was created to be oneof those moments.Our Mission: Honor the Missing is a mission-driven, community-centered PowWow wherepeople immerse themselves in Native American culture, carry its spirit with them, and becomepart of a growing movement that advances awareness for the missing and support for veteransacross Kentucky.For many, a Powwow is something they&#39;ve heard about but have never experienced. They mayknow there is dancing, drumming, beautiful regalia, and incredible craftsmanship, but the trueheart of a Powwow is found in the people. It is a place where stories are shared, traditions arepreserved, veterans are honored, and communities gather as one.Honor the Missing exists to build lasting relationships between Native and non-Nativecommunities through an authentic Powwow experience rooted in respect, education, andservice. It is a place where people are welcomed into the Circle to learn, to celebrate, and toleave with a greater understanding and appreciation of a culture that has shaped our nation&#39;shistory and continues to enrich our communities today.At the heart of this gathering is remembrance. We stand alongside the movement for Missingand Murdered Indigenous Women (MMIW), recognizing families who continue to search foranswers and ensuring that those who are missing are neither forgotten nor overlooked. Througheducation, ceremony, and community awareness, we hope to help carry their stories forward.As a veteran-led Powwow hosted by the Ohio Valley Native American Veteran Warriors Society(OVNAVWS), Honor the Missing also reflects a long-standing tradition of honoring those whohave served. In many Native cultures, veterans are regarded as warriors who have acceptedthe responsibility of protecting others. Throughout the weekend, that tradition is recognized withgratitude, dignity, and respect.This event is made possible through partnerships with organizations, businesses, volunteers,and community members who believe that culture, service, and compassion have the power tobring people together. Every partnership helps strengthen a tradition that we hope will serveKentucky for generations to come.Whether you join us to experience your first Powwow, reconnect with old friends, support Nativeartists and vendors, honor our veterans, or simply spend time with your family in a welcomingcommunity, we hope you leave carrying a little of the Circle with you.Thank you for taking the time to learn about Honor the Missing.
