Aware of the significant veterinary expenses involved, we explained that the only way we could help was if they could foster Obi for at least 12 weeks. While we immediately tested for feline leukemia (FeLV) and celebrated a negative result, Obi did test positive for feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV)—a condition common in intact outdoor male cats.
