This season, Kalamoo Robotics Academy is proud to field four FIRST LEGO League (FLL) teams, made up of 19 students in grades 2 through 8:

SMART Team #77690

Data Divas #66042 (our first all-girls team!)

Innovation Outlaws #71585

Jungle Saver Bots #71584

This year’s challenge, BIOGLOW, asks students to tackle real problems in biodiversity and rainforest conservation. Our teams are designing and programming robots, building Innovation Projects, and learning teamwork through FIRST Core Values. Several are even studying Python to sharpen their skills. Last season, our youngest team won Best Overall at Regionals and advanced to the State Championship. For the past few years, Kalamoo’s teams have been the only Suffolk teams at FIRST competitions, and we’re on a mission to change that. Each team needs about $1,200 to compete this season, covering registration, robot kits, and materials. Teams that advance to State in Charlottesville need about $1,500 more for registration, lodging, and travel. Every gift, big or small, helps a young person discover what they’re capable of. Thank you for cheering them on!
