Ocean City is American's Wonderland. One of the last places where kids can feel safe playing, where people can walk their dogs at night, where families will ride their bikes and wave at total strangers on their porches. Its 1950's Mayberry.</div><div>The heart and soul of the island is/was a historic amusement park. Wonderland.</div><div>Unbeknownst to the public, A hotel developer, Eustace Mita of Icona Resorts, purchased the Historic Pier and plans to replace it with a 252-room hotel. The property is not currently zoned for hotels . Mita is attempting to circumvent zoning laws and have the parcel designated as blight. If successful Mita could cost taxpayers huge sums all the while receiving tax relief for himself, taking money out of the school system, creating legal lop holes to circumvent our local alcohol laws and causing massive traffic and safety issues for the high school on the same block. His hotel would kill the historic Plaza Place community and set a legal precedent that would devastate the island. The main boardwalk with all the shops, amusements and other family attractions sits in this same zone. If council approves Mita's request it will open the entire zone to redevelopment. Council must either approve other hotels or face lawsuits. Hotels would quickly replace all the historic shops and future redevelopment zones could cost the city millions in lost revenues. Either way it would devastate the tourism and forever change the face of the island. This hotel proposal must be stopped! It doesn't matter whether it is a 20 room or 2000 room hotel. The future repercussions are the same. Destruction of our entire way of life!</div><div><br /></div><div>Mita has a history of predatory development. Targeting areas and asking for exceptions to zoning that have devastating consequences to the area. In Wildwood Crest his development is blocking the Ocean Viewing alleys, in Cape May he was attempting another Redevelopment Zone. Cape May was able to fight him. Wildwood Crest has lost the battle and set a precedent that will now cut off the Ocean Views for the rest of the public.</div><div><br /></div><div>Our primary mission remains the same.</div><div>#1. Block the approval of a Redevelopment zone by educating council and the Public about the consequences of Zoning changes and the destruction they would bring to our island. <br />#2.  Find a suitable land swap options for Mr. Mita where he will give up the Wonderland plot.<br />#3.  Partner with private and public funders to construct a vibrant year round community focused family friendly facility that serves as an anchor for the North End of the Boardwalk and acts as an drawl for the rest of the merchants on the boardwalk.</div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>Please donate, like,
