The American Revolution was fought by soldiers—but its story belongs to far more than the battlefield. On the Army’s Strength, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit public-history and living-history organization dedicated to researching, preserving, and sharing the experiences of the civilians and noncombatants whose lives were deeply shaped by the American Revolution. Women, children, laborers, craftspeople, medical workers, followers of the army, and countless others lived alongside the armies, supported communities, endured displacement and hardship, practiced essential trades, cared for the sick and wounded, prepared food, maintained households, and experienced the Revolution in ways that are too often overshadowed by the battles themselves. We believe their stories deserve to be told. Through historically researched living-history demonstrations, educational programs, workshops, partnerships with historic sites and museums, and community outreach, OAS works to make these histories visible, accessible, and meaningful to modern audiences. We are committed to interpretation grounded in evidence, responsible representation, education, collaboration, and continued research. Our goal is to raise $10,000 to help OAS continue building this work. Your donation helps give our organization the resources to develop educational and interpretive programming, conduct and support historical research, create demonstrations and workshops, collaborate with historic sites and community partners, support our volunteers and interpreters, and expand opportunities for thoughtful, research-based public history. Your support also helps us invest in the future of the living-history community. Through initiatives such as the Deborah Peterson Scholarship, OAS supports individuals undertaking research-based projects that strengthen historical interpretation and bring new or better-understood stories to the public. As we commemorate the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution, there is an extraordinary opportunity to broaden the way its history is understood. The Revolution was not experienced only by the people carrying muskets or commanding armies. It was lived in kitchens and hospitals, camps and homes, workshops and communities—and by people whose stories deserve a place in our understanding of the past. We want to help tell those stories. Whether you give $10, $50, $100, or more, you become part of that work. Every contribution helps us research more deeply, teach more effectively, reach more people, and build a stronger future for civilian and noncombatant interpretation. Help us bring the people beyond the battlefield back into the story. Donate today and help On the Army’s Strength preserve, interpret, and share the fuller story of the American Revolution.
