Our partner Rebuilders Ministries is asking for urgent support for an Ebola-response project at Salama Internally Displaced Persons Camp, near Bunia airport in Ituri Province. The need: About 3,000 displaced people in Salama share only 8 latrines. Clean water costs about 20 cents a gallon, which puts regular handwashing out of reach for most families. Ituri declared an Ebola outbreak on May 15, and Rebuilders reports more than 9,000 confirmed cases and 4,500 deaths so far. The project: Rebuilders will build 10 handwashing stations and 10 latrines within 45 days of receiving funds, then deliver chlorinated water daily for three months. Their outreach team will visit the nearby school, market, and parking areas to show families where the new facilities are and how to use them. Daily programs on Rebuilders FM Radio will cover Ebola prevention along with counseling for the trauma of displacement. The budget: $10,240 total• 10 handwashing stations: $1,000• 10 latrines: $2,000• Tricycle motorbike for water transport: $2,800• Driver for 3 months: $1,200• Water for 3 months: $1,800• Outreach team for 3 months: $1,440
