Help keep the Blues alive in DC/MD/VA—and help keep live Blues accessible to our community. 🎷 At the D.C. Blues Society (DCBS), our members are—and will remain—a vital foundation of support. But membership dues alone cannot sustain us, and presenting free festivals requires substantial additional support from people like you. Before we host a single festival, concert, or event, our annual budget includes approximately $11,000 in operational expenditures. Those necessary expenses include:

Insurance: essential operational coverage.

Equipment and merchandise storage: space to store these items.

Support for our financial operations.

Office rent

That $11,000 operational budget does not include these additional costs:

Band payments: what we pay musicians to perform at key events

FREE Jams: facility rentals needed to host them.

Support for DCBS representatives to the annual International Blues Challenge in Memphis, TN

Annual Free Festival: the costs of presenting our festival. In October 2026, we held our 36th Annual DC Blues Festival!

Your support also helps keep ticket prices down so our shows are accessible to as many people as possible. As an all-volunteer organization founded in 1987, we work to celebrate, preserve, and promote the Blues as an original American art form through outreach, education, and live music. DCBS is a tax-exempt charitable and educational organization under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, consequently you may be eligible for a tax deduction in 2026. Please donate today to help sustain the work behind the music. Together, we can support a Blues community where aspiring and seasoned musicians, fans, and dancers come together.
