We're reaching out to you with an exciting opportunity to make a tangible impact on celebrating the incredible history of the Summerville Museum and Research Center. We're on a mission to install a Historical Marker that will stand as a lasting testament to the historical significance of our treasured site. Why a Historical Marker?This marker will not only recognize the diverse history of our location but will also emphasize the museum's vital role for generations to come. Your contribution will directly fund the acquisition of the marker and the necessary preparations for its installation in front of the Museum.  A Glimpse into Our History:The land we now proudly occupy was once owned by the Eagle Creek Lumber Company from 1923-1928. The site also housed the Town of Summerville's Water Department from 1930-1951 which featured a 100-foot steel water tower and a 300,000-gallon water cistern. Today, you can still witness the preserved brick facade of the original one-story building in our museum lobby.Throughout the years, the building underwent transformations, serving as the Summerville Police Department from 1976 until its relocation in June 1990. The museum officially opened in December 1992, and since then, continuous renovations and exhibit installations have shaped the Summerville Museum and Research Center into the historical gem it is today. How You Can Help:Your support is vital!
