Brazil has the second-highest population in the world and the weakest animal legislation. United Animal Rescue (UAR) feeds, sterilizes and vaccinates stay animals daily. UAR has an animal sanctuary with 200+ injured animals who depend on veterinary care every day. Local animal foster groups depend on United Animal Rescue support and network. Saving animals is not a 9-5 job. Emergencies do not happen on a schedule. When an animal needs help, we show up - we are the first responders. Our first step when arriving on the scene is to assess the needs of the animal and provide for those needs as quickly as possible. To provide the care these animals require, we must be prepared to handle anything. We need to show up prepared to dress wounds, administer fluids, treat life-threatening illnesses, and stabilize these animals until we can get them to a vet clinic. In an emergency, every minute matters. How can you help? We need help in treating sick animals, we need help to pay off for their veterinary bills. We need food to feed them and supplies to care for them all year around. We need to stock our First Aid Kits. We must make sure that every volunteer and combat veterinarian has a kit with them when they arrive on the scene. Every dollar we spend goes directly towards saving animals, and every cent saved is another animal we can help. On average, we save 12-15 lives per day, over 5,000 souls per year.
