Every dollar given goes 100% to the purchase of the original Christian Haven campus in Wheatfield, Indiana. From 1952 to 2014, Christian Haven operated as first a boys home and then later a co-ed therapeutic boarding school and residential treatment center for troubled teens. After the closure of the original program, other Christian organizations attempted to step in and carry the mantle up until mid-2023. In the 70+ years of ministering to families, the campus was historically only used as a full-time residential program for troubled teens. David and Jacki Wallkerr first became acquainted with the campus and the attached history in 2021 when they quickly fell in love with what they felt the Lord wanted to there. In late 2023 they had their first opportunity to acquire the property with a renewed vision for Kingdom Reconciliation where they were met with much resistance and failed to complete the purchase. As of October, 2024, the opportunity has arisen again to fulfill the call to honor the history and legacy of the original Christian Haven but with a new vision to steward for the future. Moving forward, the campus will once again serve as a hub for restoring relationships but it will no longer be a full-time residential program for teens. Instead, for the first time ever, the campus will be opened to the community to use for at-cost, open use events at the full gymnasium and front-of-campus cottages. The beautiful little Chapel will be open 24-7 for prayer and conversation and will house the Christian Haven museum, honoring the history and legacy of those who gave years of their lives to impact the lives of hundreds of teens and their families over the last 70+ years. The full indoor riding arena, stocked fishing pond, and forgiveness trails will be open to public use with restricted hours as we move to offer intensive reconciliation to families year-round. The Welcome Center will become the home of day-use counseling and family coaching. The additional back-of-campus cottages, wood shop and auto shop, and what was the school building on the campus will soon become a resource for Pastoral Respite, Father-Son Camps, Young Adult Retreats, and the Wolf Creek Leadership School (a discipleship driven skills training program for young adults and transitional adults).
