It isn&rsquo;t easy to ask for help, but the Downriver Council for the Arts (DCA) has reached a critical turning point. For years, we have been a home for creativity, a stage for performers, and a gathering place for our neighbors. However, we are currently facing a severe funding emergency and have fallen behind on our rent. Rent on the arts center has been increasing every year and the operational costs for a building this size are daunting. Changes to federal and state funding policies have caused delays in the support available to local and regional arts nonprofits. The arts funding landscape has shifted, but our commitment to this community outweighs our pride. Without immediate support from our community, we are at risk of losing our physical home. Why we are asking now: Admitting we are in this position is humbling, and frankly, a bit difficult. But our mission to empower local artists and enrich the Downriver community is more important than our pride. We are being transparent because this organization belongs to you, and we need your help to keep our doors open. Where your money goes:100% of the funds raised through this campaign will go directly toward our occupancy costs and rent arrears.Because we are using Zeffy, the DCA receives 100% of your donation, no credit card or platform fees are taken out of your gift.
