The Collegio Filippino, a home for Filipino priests sent by their bishops for ongoing formation with further studies in Rome, needs to add EMERGENCY EXIT STAIRS to its 64-year-old 5-storey building. The central staircase forms for now the only exit, which can be blocked anytime by fire or earthquake. The total cost is $200,000 for both sides, with 5 levels each. This translates (including roadworks) to $100,000 for one side, or $20,000 per floor. After project completion, any excess or monthly donation will be used for other needs. These emergency stairs, though not requred during constuction in 1961, will help ensure the safety of its 70 residents (priests, sisters and lay), up to 25 guests (bishops and priests) and others who happen to visit. Our graduates serve seminaries and other specialized ministries back home in the Philippines. Futhermore, the Church serves the spiritual and material needs of all, whether Catholics or not, including education, livelihood, orphanages, natural disasters, health care, homes for the elderly, and so on.
