Poetry built a bridge between Pompano Beach and Lom&eacute;, Togo and we&#39;re committed to keeping that bridge strong. Our cultural exchange partners, Calebasse Challenge and Les Fils du Soleil, were scheduled to continue our exchange through participation in Exit 36. Due to current U.S. visa restrictions and significant new financial barriers to travel, our Togolese partners are unable to join us in the United States this year. But the exchange doesn&#39;t stop here.Instead, we are adapting. Our Togolese partners will remain part of Exit 36 through paid virtual programming, including an international artist talk and open mic connecting artists and audiences across continents. Later this year, our U.S. delegation will travel to Togo for approximately two weeks to participate in the Calebasse Challenge Poetry Festival, youth and community programming, performances, cultural experiences, and artistic exchange. When our international partners travel to us, we believe in taking care of them. Since we cannot extend that hospitality to them in the United States this year, we&#39;re asking our community to help us practice that same spirit of reciprocity in Togo. Funds raised will help compensate Togolese artists for virtual Exit 36 programming and support Calebasse Challenge and Les Fils du Soleil as they assist with lodging, meals, local transportation, programming, and hospitality during our U.S. delegation&#39;s stay in Togo. This isn&#39;t charity. It&#39;s partnership. It&#39;s reciprocity. It&#39;s cultural exchange done with intention. Help us keep the exchange moving.
