When the parade began, its founder - Ellen McAnelly - always wanted us to save a space for "the people". In addition to being about celebrating St. Patrick's Day, the parade is also about celebrating community. To that end, it was Ellen's wish that the parade remain free-of-charge to participants and viewers alike. That is why the Irish Society of North Alabama, organizer of the parade, conducts fund-raising among the businesses and residents of the Tennessee Valley. Now, we offer the community - the people - an opportunity to give and support this near-half-century-old North Alabama tradition. The Irish Society of North Alabama, who organizes the St. Patrick's Day parade, is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. All donations are tax-deductible.
