What Your Donation Will Help Achieve in Manchester
Manchester Historic Society was founded in 1996 to help preserve and promote the history of Manchester. MHS’ initial focus was on encouraging the retention and restoration of historic homes in the neighborhood, but our mission has expanded to supporting the neighborhood through two annual cleanup days, showcasing Manchester’s success stories on our annual house tour, supporting neighborhood organizations and projects, and preserving our organization’s “new” home, the Colonel James Anderson House (c. 1830).
By donating to the Manchester Historic Society, you are providing the necessary funds to champion our causes and by making Manchester that much better. We are a 501c registered nonprofit and any and all funds that you donate to the MHS can be taken off on your taxes.
Manchester the Neighborhood
Manchester is located just minutes from downtown Pittsburgh and offers the advantages of community living in the midst of the larger urban experience. We’re minutes from the North Shore, major sports and cultural attractions, the casino and the Federal Street renewal. We’re easily accessible from all parts of the region. Located along the east bank of the Ohio River, Manchester is roughly bounded to the north by the Conrail Railroad, to the west by Chateau Street, to the east by Allegheny Avenue and to the south by Western Avenue.
