He was so vibrant, so full of life. Suddenly he was gone. I was shocked, and broken. The memorial services were heartbreaking, yet inspiring. Among all of the tributes, it was the shirts that his current players wore that struck me most- "Do it for Dave." Many of them had been coached by my husband since T-Ball. Dave believed in the power of sports to teach young people invaluable lessons that serve them through life, long after their playing days are done- and sadly, his days as well. Together with his brother Steve and Dave's many former teammates, friends, and colleagues, we realized that we had to continue Dave's commitment to the life lessons of sports.  Today, April 4th, we launch the official campaign for the Dave St Hill 44 Foundation. Dave always wore jersey #44, and in recognition of Coach Dave, please join me in making 4/4 Dave St Hill Day- one to remember him as the new baseball and softball seasons kick-off. "Let's all Do it 4 Dave!" The DSH 44 Foundation was established to recognize, inspire, and reward student athletes that embrace the lessons that "Coach Dave" instilled- teamwork, commitment, and scholarship. Our goal is to raise $20,000 To fund a $1,000 scholarship in Coach Dave's name to be awarded annually to a college-bound student athlete selected in accordance with the rules established by the Dave St. Hill Memorial Foundation Committee. Special thanks to all who contributed in the formative days of the DSH Memorial Foundation- we wouldn't be here without you.
