HWNT ARL Members and Friends, The Quetzal Strength & Stability Fund, established by HWNT-Arlington in October 2025, provides emergency support to families facing hardship due to detention, deportation, or family separation. The fund is named after the resplendent quetzal, a bird deeply revered throughout Central America and long regarded as a symbol of freedom, dignity, and resilience. According to tradition, the quetzal cannot thrive in captivity, making it a powerful representation of the human desire to live freely and remain connected to family, culture, and community. For many immigrant families, the quetzal reflects both the challenges they face and the strength they demonstrate in overcoming them. As a women's organization rooted in service and advocacy, HWNT-Arlington understands the lasting impact that detention, deportation, and family separation can have on parents, guardians, children, and extended family members. Women are often at the center of maintaining family stability during times of crisis, and our members have witnessed firsthand the emotional, financial, and practical challenges families encounter when a loved one is removed from the home. Guided by compassion, cultural understanding, and community care, the fund helps families access critical resources to remain safe, connected, and supported while navigating these difficult circumstances. Thank you for standing with us through your monetary donations. Your donations will support emergency family needs, including groceries, seasonal clothing, utility/bill pay, school needs, and activities for the children.
