Florida leads the nation in child drownings. In Miami, free swim lessons fill within minutes. At United Hands for Children, we believe every child deserves a chance to be safe in the water and part of a team — no matter their neighborhood or what their family can afford. This fall, we launched our pilot season at José Martí Park: eight Saturdays of free swim and sports for kids from across Miami. Certified instructors, small groups, every child welcome. Girls make up half our roster — by design, not by chance. Our first season sold out with a waitlist. Swimming can save a life. Sports build one. A child needs both. Our founder spent twenty years in the Coast Guard, a life built around one truth: the water doesn't forgive, and getting to people in time is everything. This program is that mission, moved upstream — teaching kids to be safe in the water before they're ever in danger. Your gift makes it possible: 🏊 $75 funds an instructor for a Saturday ⚽ $300 funds a full morning of swim and sports 💙 $500 helps us reach kids in more Miami neighborhoods No gift is too small. Every dollar helps keep a child safe in the water and playing sports together. We're a Florida 501(c)(3) public charity, built by a family who believes every kid deserves a place to swim, play, and belong. This is just the start — help us keep it free, and help us show what's possible.
