Friends of Reston&nbsp;&nbsp;Since our founding in 1999, Friends of Reston (FoR) has served as the official 501(c)(3) supporting organization to the Reston Association (RA), dedicated to enhancing the Reston community through charitable, educational, scientific, and environmental programming.&nbsp;What We DoEach year, Friends of Reston is proud to contribute to our community through initiatives such as:&nbsp;Investing in Youth<ul fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;"><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Providing scholarships to 100+ underserved youth annually, allowing children to participate in summer camp, tennis, swim, and nature programs.</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Honoring Reston Association high school seniors who embody a spirit of volunteerism and demonstrate exceptional community service aligned with our mission.</li></ul>Supporting Seniors &amp; Families<ul fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;"><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Hosting monthly free movie days to over 2,600 Reston senior citizens.</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Bringing joy to families through our beloved &ldquo;Totally Trucks&rdquo; event, engaging annually over 1,000 children with free, hands-on truck exploration and community programming.</li></ul>Environmental and Community Enhancements<ul fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;"><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Supporting Reston&rsquo;s Arbor Day, Earth Day, and habitat restoration programs.</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Contributing to the installation of an ADA feature playgrounds to all feasible sites, enhancing inclusion in community spaces.</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Installing an Electric Vehicle Charging Station and adding interpretive signage along Reston pathways to support sustainability education.</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Donating 60 holiday trees annually to families in need &ndash; spreading hope and cheer.</li></ul>Community Engagement &amp; Recognition<ul fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;"><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Contributing to the Walker Nature Center Spring and Holiday Festivals.</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Sponsoring the Lake Anne Mykle Lyons Jazz Festival.</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Enhancing public spaces with the Memorial Bench and Friends of Trees programs in recognition of Reston Association residents.</li></ul>Why It MattersWe exist to turn Goodwill into Good Work, investing in projects that build community, expand access to opportunity, and preserve Reston&rsquo;s natural beauty for generations to come.&nbsp;FoR programs create opportunities for kids to explore, seniors to connect, families to thrive, and nature to flourish.
