A gift of life should never mean a lifetime without support. Living organ donors undergo surgery and accept real physical, emotional, and financial risks so another person can live. Their generosity is celebrated at the moment of donation—but after the surgery and recovery, attention often moves on. Years later, donors may face lost income, uncovered health expenses, employment or insurance difficulties, caregiving pressures, or an unexpected crisis. Others simply need connection with people who understand an experience that has shaped the rest of their lives. Life4Donors was created to make sure living donors are never forgotten after the gift. 🧡 Why we started Our founder is alive today because a friend gave him a kidney. That extraordinary decision gave him more time with his family and a future he might not otherwise have had. It also revealed a profound gap: the transplant system is understandably focused on saving recipients, but living donors do not always have a lifelong place to turn after donation. Non-directed living donors can be especially overlooked. They donate to someone they may never meet, often anonymously, without expecting recognition or repayment. Their generosity deserves more than gratitude. It deserves lasting support. 🤝 Our mission Life4Donors is building the lifelong support system living organ donors deserve—a national home where donors can find practical assistance, trusted resources, meaningful connection, and advocacy shaped around their real experiences. We are beginning with a focused first program: need-based hardship grants for verified non-directed living organ donors facing documented and urgent challenges after donation. Depending on individual circumstances and available charitable funds, assistance may help address needs such as:• Housing and essential utilities • Food and transportation • Uncovered health-related expenses • Employment or caregiving disruptions • Other immediate needs that threaten a donor’s stability Every request begins with donor verification and is considered through an objective, private review process. Assistance is post-donation, based on documented need, and never offered as payment or an inducement for organ donation. 🌱 What your gift helps build Your contribution supports more than a single moment of relief. It helps create the foundation for lasting donor care, including:• Hardship relief for verified donors facing urgent instability • Responsible systems for donor registration, verification, grant review, data stewardship, and impact reporting • A protected donor community shaped by living donors themselves • Peer connection and resource navigation so donors know where to turn • Research and advocacy centered on what donors actually experience and need • Future whole-life support as funding and partnerships grow We will start focused, listen closely, and expand responsibly. Where strong services already exist, we will collaborate rather than duplicate them. Every donated dollar will be treated as a public trust.Contributions to this campaign support Life4Donors’ general charitable purposes and may be used where needed most across donor assistance, community, program development, and responsible operations. Life4Donors will honor only those specific gift restrictions it expressly accepts in writing. 💚 Help us stay for theirs Living donors gave another person more time, more possibility, and more life. Together, we can make sure they never have to navigate the years after donation alone. Donors give life. We stay for theirs. Please give back to those who gave the gift of life.
