Help the Amik Circle Society raise the final $50,000 needed to secure our museum before December 31, 2026.For more than three decades, the Amik Circle Society has worked to understand, document, and protect the stone circles, mounds, burial sites, artifacts, and other culturally significant places of the Beaver Island Archipelago. Our story began with the discovery of a large stone circle on Beaver Island in the late 1980s. In the 1990s, the Amik Circle Society was formed as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to scientific and educational work. Since then, generations of volunteers, supporters, researchers, and Island residents have worked to preserve the places, stories, and knowledge that make Beaver Island unique. Now we have the opportunity to give that work a permanent home. We’re Almost ThereThe building we currently occupy already serves as the Amik Circle Society museum, housing cultural artifacts and history from across Beaver Island. The purchase price is $90,000, and $40,000 has already been committed. That leaves just: $50,000 to raise by December 31, 2026. Closing this final gap will do much more than purchase the building. It will ensure that Beaver Island’s artifacts, records, stories, research, and cultural preservation work have a permanent home for generations to come.More Than a MuseumThis building can become a lasting center for preserving and sharing Beaver Island’s cultural story—a place where the past is protected and the work of preservation continues. A permanent home will allow us to:

Protect and display cultural artifacts from across Beaver Island.

Preserve photographs, maps, historical records, research, and community knowledge.

Welcome residents, visitors, researchers, volunteers, and future generations.

Continue documenting stone circles, mounds, burial sites, and other culturally significant places.

Record the memories and knowledge of elders, families, and longtime Island residents.

Support new preservation projects using tools such as LiDAR and other non-invasive technologies.

Why This Matters NowSome of Beaver Island’s most important cultural places have never been fully documented. In many cases, knowledge of these places lives in the memories of people who are still with us today. We cannot assume that knowledge will always be available.New technologies can help us locate, map, and better understand culturally significant sites—but technology cannot replace the stories, memories, and firsthand knowledge passed from one generation to the next. The opportunity before us is to bring those things together while we still can.To preserve the artifacts. To record the stories. To protect the places. And to create a permanent home where that work can continue long after we are gone.Help Us Cross the Finish LineFor more than 30 years, people have given their time, knowledge, passion, and support to this mission. Now we are asking our community to help us take one important final step.$90,000 purchase price $40,000 already committed $50,000 left to raiseWhether Beaver Island is part of your family history, a place you return to every summer, somewhere you once called home, or simply a place you believe deserves to be protected, you can become part of its story. Every contribution moves us closer to securing a permanent home for the Amik Circle Society.$25 helps show the strength of community support.$50 helps sustain the work of documenting and sharing Beaver Island’s history.$100 helps build a permanent foundation for cultural preservation.$250 makes a significant contribution toward closing our remaining funding gap.$500 or more brings us substantially closer to owning this property outright and protecting this work for future generations.Knowledge, burial places, cultural sites, artifacts, stories, and history cannot be replacced. Please help us raise the final $50,000 before December 31 and give Beaver Island’s story a permanent home.Preserve the past. Protect the future. Give today. If you cannot make a financial contribution, please share this campaign with family, friends, former Island residents, visitors, historians, preservationists, and anyone who cares about Beaver Island.Together, we can make sure Beaver Island’s story has both a home and a future.
