According to the 2026 Hawaiʻi Physician Workforce Report, the state is short an estimated 833 full-time equivalent physicians when geographic access across the islands is considered. Of Hawaiʻi&#39;s 12,688 licensed physicians, fewer than 3,700 are actively providing patient care.
