To remain financially stable and regain full federal funding, SAU must first pay off student refund disbursements — the final step before being released from Heightened Cash Monitoring (HCM2) status by the U.S. Department of Education. Once removed from HCM2, over $6 million in federal student aid funds (Title IV) will be unlocked — funds that support day-to-day operations, faculty and staff salaries, and student success initiatives. “A school placed on HCM2 no longer receives funds under the Advance Payment Method.
