If anyone deserves the love it is our sanctuary locations that work so hard to keep our programs alive. The sanctuaries provide homes for our goat friends as well as a lot of the husbandry associated with goat ownership. They do this because they care about the goats and they believe in our mission. This initiative to raise funds for the sanctuaries is one thing we can do to express our heartfelt thanks to the people providing love and care for our goat friends. Skal Farm - in Golden Colorado was once a dairy belonging to our good friend Kristen DeWitt. Life took its course and she eventually stopped the dairy operation but had no plans of discontinuing our journey in Goat activities. Skal Farm has provided a good home for goats in our program that spend time in memory care centers helping those with dementia and Alzheimers. This is a very important mission for the herd she cares for and they deserve some relief with their annual goat expenses. Skal Farm spends $6000.00 on hay annually. Carrie's Merrie Goat Sanctuary - in Castle Rock Colorado is another herd that needs a lot of hay. The hay budget is substantial at this particular location as it is home to 30 Nigerian Dwarf and pygmy goats. There is a mixture of wethers and does but all of them are sweet as can be. They serve in our therapy programs as well as in goat yoga. They have 5 acres to explore but this bunch requires a whopping $8,300.00 annual hay budget. These goats work so hard to earn their meals and so it is up to us to rally together and make sure they are fed well. Koelle Tiny Farm is home to our very own 10 rescued Nigerian Dwarf Goats. The annual hay and boarding budget is $5,700.00. This herd has offered their support at hospitals, hospice, memory care centers and so much more. They have worked very hard to be socialized with humans and have taken many risks in the line of duty. We are truly lucky to have an elite herd of goats like this one! We have a total annual budget of $20,000.00 between these 4 sanctuary locations! We do an incredible job of keeping our advocacy days regular so the enclosures are kept clean. We are also trimming the goats hooves and building suitable enclosures to keep them all safe. We ensure a proper mineral intake with each goat in our program. We have made sure that all of the goats have been vaccinated and all the male goats in our program are fixed. We have worked towards giving the goats a great life and we are doing that 100%! We appreciate the support from our donors and we thank everyone for all donations, big or small. This funds a very important program that is changing the face of therapy and how we view these amazingly therapeutic animals.
