Greenfield Open Spaces and Playground Restoration

The Greenfield Open Spaces and Playground Restoration project will revitalize a critical public space in central Philadelphia.

Adjacent to the Albert M. Greenfield School, this vibrant green space—featuring over 25 tree species, a watershed management program, and community gathering areas—is the only large, centrally located playground serving the Center City West neighborhood. It directly benefits the 750+ students at Greenfield—a diverse, public K-8 school—and the 30,000 residents who live nearby.

After 15 years of heavy use, the space’s surfaces and equipment have deteriorated, creating safety risks and limiting accessibility. With support from public and private funders, we plan to replace all deteriorated surfaces, install new accessible playground equipment, add educational features, and further enhance the green space.
