Four smiling young women in matching orange t-shirts walk hand-in-hand down a gravel path surrounded by a lush pine forest.

Young people are growing up in a time of deep division. Many experience exclusion, harassment, or discrimination because of their race, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, or other parts of who they are. Anytown gives Arizona teens the skills and support to build something different. Since 1957, Anytown Leadership Program has brought together high school students from different backgrounds, communities, and perspectives. At our weeklong residential camp, participants explore identity, prejudice, discrimination, bias, and leadership through workshops, activities, and honest conversation. Our approach is simple: understanding through sharing. Anytown creates a space where teens can talk openly about difficult issues, listen to experiences different from their own, and learn how to navigate disagreement with empathy and respect. Participants develop practical skills to recognize bias, challenge stereotypes, communicate across differences, and foster inclusion in their schools and communities. They leave camp with stronger leadership skills, greater confidence, and meaningful relationships with people they may never have met otherwise. Participants also receive a certificate recognizing 50 hours of leadership and diversity education. Every year, we hear it again and again: “Anytown changed my life.” In 2026, we welcomed 58 delegates from 20 schools across Arizona and provided $23,400 in scholarships so cost would not prevent a young person from attending. We also reached more than 200 students through our school programs. In 2027, we’re working to serve a camp community of 80 to 100 delegates and staff and bring Anytown workshops to 10 schools, reaching approximately 500 more young people across Arizona. From our delegates: “At Anytown, I never felt like I didn’t belong.” — Sophia, Central High School “Anytown encouraged my growth and empathy throughout the experience. I made a lot of friends that I can now call my brothers. I have never felt such a strong sense of unity and empathy before. I felt seen and recognized. The lessons I learned at Anytown will always be with me.” — Fernando, Metro Tech High School Your gift helps cover the direct costs of this work, including camp facilities, transportation, scholarships, and school programs. With camp costing $919 per delegate, donor support helps ensure that a family’s or school’s financial circumstances do not determine who gets to participate. Donate today and help make Anytown possible for the next generation of Arizona leaders.
