Help Ayla Rebuild Her Life After a Devastating Motorcycle Accident On May 28, 2026, Ayla Skaggs&rsquo; life changed in an instant when she was involved in a devastating motorcycle accident. What followed has been a long and incredibly difficult journey through hospitalization and rehabilitation. Ayla has endured serious, painful injuries and is now facing the even longer road of learning how to live and walk independently again. The accident shattered Ayla&rsquo;s pelvis and caused multiple compression fractures in her spine. Some of her vertebrae were actually &ldquo;shaved down&quot; from sliding across the cement and several of the fractures in her pelvis have still not fully fused. One of the pelvic fractures remains entirely free-floating. Ayla is currently non-weight-bearing on her right leg and continues to wear a TLSO brace anytime she is upright beyond 30 degrees. She is only cleared to lift 10&ndash;15 pounds. Nerve damage in her right leg and foot has significantly affected her ability to walk, and she is now working through the difficult process of learning to walk again. But Ayla is so much more than the injuries she is fighting through. She is an incredibly artistic, compassionate, and outdoors-loving person. She works at a veterinary clinic, caring for animals and doing work that reflects how deeply she loves and connects with them. At home, she has her beloved fur baby, Obi No Tail Kenobi, who has been an important source of comfort and companionship. Before the accident, Ayla found joy in the simple, beautiful things in life: writing poetry, painting, drawing, camping, hiking, meditation, and mindfulness. She loves being outdoors and expressing herself creatively. These are the pieces of her life she is determined to get back to. Now, Ayla needs our help. Her recovery is going to take time, therapy, medical care, and patience. The physical challenges are enormous, and the financial burden that comes with a catastrophic injury can be overwhelming.
