Update 10/15/25: Wow! On October 1st, we kicked off the month by announcing our move and putting out the call for our community to help make it possible. In just thirteen days, we are so unbelievably thrilled and grateful to announce that we have reached our initial fundraising goal of $15,000. To anyone who donated, shared our story and campaign, or stopped by the store to buy a book and wish us well, THANK YOU! You are directly responsible for helping make this move a reality.  As our initial goal of $15,000 has been met, we are raising our fundraising goal to $20,000 so we can start working towards longer-term projects and goals in the new space. This additional $5,000 will allow us to support the long-term stability of the store and help us save for larger-scale improvements to the space, including, but not limited to, making the bathroom more accessible and improving the printing and meeting spaces. We will be fundraising through the end of November, meaning you have until 11/30 to donate and get your hands on limited-edition perks that will only be available during this fundraising campaign! Updates and news about designs to come.  Our last day in our 2002 23rd Ave S. location will be Friday, October 24th. But don’t worry—you won’t have to miss us for long! While we treasure the time we've spent in Seward, and will miss existing as a community space here, we struggled with dwindling foot traffic, low sales, and expensive maintenance issues. We're making the decision to move to a space we believe offers the resources that will allow us to exist sustainably as a community organization for the long haul: our new home at  708 West 26th Street. We are asking you, our community of readers, writers, artists, world-changers, and so much more, to help make this move possible. We are asking for $15,000 —- $6,000 of which must be raised by 10/17 to be able to physically move spaces and open in our new home as soon as we are able to.  We want to thank you for donating!To show appreciation to you for your support of Boneshaker, donors can expect to receive the following perks based on contribution: <ul><li>Give a gift of at least $5 today to receive a risograph-printed postcard with an original design to be revealed at a later date. </li><li>Give a gift of at least $25 today to receive a risograph-printed poster with an original design to be revealed at a later date.</li><li>Give a gift of at least $50 today to receive a limited-edition tote bag with an original design only available during this fundraising campaign. From now until forever, any time you shop at Boneshaker Books and bring your tote bag, you will receive 10% off your book purchase. </li><li>Give a gift of $150 today to have your name added to a collective mural that will be displayed in our new location AND receive an invite to the mural unveiling. </li><li>Give a gift of $500 or more today to have a custom (fake) skull decorated in a way you choose and with your name displayed next to it in the store. </li></ul>Perks STACK, so if you give at a higher level you will receive the perk at that level AND all perks for the giving tiers below that. At the conclusion of the campaign, we will reach out via email to coordinate in-store pickup/shipment of your perks.  Where are my donations going?$15,000 will allow Boneshaker to move by covering: <ul><li>Truck rental to U-Haul our inventory to its new home</li><li>Initial deposit + additional security deposit we must pay as a result of not having a personal guarantor due to being a volunteer collective</li><li>Lost revenue while the store is closed for the move</li><li>Replacing broken chairs for both volunteers and customers to create a comfortable and welcoming space</li><li>Building out our inventory to be able to open with and maintain stocked shelves (so books can fly off of them and into your homes)</li><li>Starting to work on and save towards long-term improvements to the space, which include but are not limited to: making the restroom more accessible, creating a more private meeting room, and insulating our beautifully loud risograph machine from the rest of the store. None of these are projects we’re going to accomplish before moving into the new space, but all things we hope to tackle in the near future, and fundraising as much as we can now will make tackling these projects less daunting.</li></ul>Boneshaker Books is completely volunteer run. All of the funds raised will go directly towards the store, the move, and ensuring we can be successful and thrive in our new home.
