Florida Surge is Florida’s newest Non Profit Power Soccer Team based out of Jacksonville, Florida. Our team consists of 5 athletes with different disabilities whom have all been playing power soccer for years and have been registered and recognized athletes through United States Power Soccer Association (USPSA). We are currently waiting for USPSA registration to open up so we can officially register and be recognized as a new official competitive team. Until then, we are getting everything ready so we can begin the new Power Soccer season! These athletes have been playing together for years under another team and chose to build their own team to create more opportunities to play and travel competitively! This is a family-run team of parents and caregivers here to support the wants and needs of each athlete in a family setting, building lifelong relationships, and creating as many opportunities as possible along the way.  Our financial goals  4 Strikeforce chairs (Strikeforces are a Power Soccer chair specifically made for the sport of Power Soccer. It’s like wearing your best cleats on the field, but way more expensive.)Each chairs base price is $9500, without any adaptations. The total for our 4 chairs will be approximately $45,000. The chairs have to be our top priority since you can not play without them. We are also on a time crunch as there is about a 3 month wait on chairs. Our goal is to have them before the end of January so that we can begin competing at tournaments. In order to be eligible to play at Nationals, each team is required to play a certain amount of qualified games. Nationals are in June for USPSA, so we will be pushing it. But we believe that with the help of you, our supporters, we can reach our goal!  Realistically, the chairs are just the tip of the iceberg. We have uniforms, registration costs, team equipment, travel and hotel expenses, etc that we will need to cover, so anything helps.  The fact is that for our athletes; Devin, Juston, Sara, Christy, and Alain- this is their only sport. Due to their disabilities, their options are limited for being part of a team where they can play competitively. They go from “people in wheelchairs” to true athletes on the court playing as hard as they can. As their family/friends/caregivers, we are here to do what it takes to give them every opportunity we possibly can.
