Hatchi finally has an adopter. Now we need to raise $3,000 to get him there. After everything Hatchi has been through, we finally have the news we’ve been waiting for: an incredible adopter in Novi, Michigan is ready to welcome him home. We have an opportunity to get Hatchi from Los Angeles to the Chicago area on September 20. From there, we will drive him the rest of the way to Novi. There is just one thing standing between Hatchi and his new home: We need to raise $3,000 to get him there. WHERE WILL THE $3,000 GO?🐾 $875 — Current boarding balanceHatchi has been in boarding since August 29. By September 20 we will owe $875, and his bill continues to increase by $35 every additional day he remains there. ✈️ Los Angeles → ChicagoWe have been offered an opportunity through Retrievair to get Hatchi from Los Angeles to the Chicago area on September 20. 🚗 Chicago → Novi, MichiganOnce Hatchi arrives in Chicago, we need to rent a car and drive him the remaining distance to his adopter in Novi. 🩺 Veterinary & travel expensesWe also need to cover Hatchi’s veterinary and interstate travel requirements so he can safely make the trip. Our $3,000 goal is intended to cover Hatchi’s boarding, transportation, rental car and the other expenses necessary to finally get him home. HOW DID HATCHI GET HERE? Hatchi is an almost 3-year-old Belgian Malinois/German Shepherd mix who was originally saved from the euthanasia list at North Central Shelter in April 2025.But being rescued from the shelter wasn’t the end of his story. Hatchi spent approximately seven months in boarding after the rescue that originally pulled him was no longer providing for his care. When that boarding facility was preparing to close, Akira Animal Rescue became involved in helping the dogs who had been left behind. We refused to let Hatchi go back into the shelter system. After another rescue placement fell through, we kept fighting for him. Then, in December 2025, we thought Hatchi had finally gotten his happily ever after. He was adopted. ❤️ For eight months, we believed Hatchi was home. Then, in August, we received news that broke our hearts: Hatchi had been brought to South LA Shelter. We eventually learned that Hatchi had reportedly been left in someone else’s care and that person brought him to the shelter. Whatever circumstances brought him back there, we knew Hatchi had already experienced enough instability. We weren’t going to leave him behind.Akira Animal Rescue brought Hatchi back under our care on August 29, and he has been in boarding ever since while we’ve searched for the right person to give him the permanent home he deserves. AND WE FOUND THEM. ❤️ An adopter in Novi, Michigan is ready to give Hatchi the stability and love we have wanted for him all along. Now we need our community one more time. This isn’t a fundraiser to keep Hatchi in boarding. It’s a fundraiser to GET HIM OUT.His adopter is waiting. His home is waiting. We just need to get him there. $3,000 GETS HATCHI HOME If 150 people donate $20, we reach our entire goal. $5 helps. $10 helps. $20 helps. $50 helps. Every donation moves that progress bar closer to 100%—and moves Hatchi closer to Michigan. Our goal is to have Hatchi on the September 20 flight. Please help us finish the journey we started with this incredible boy. Let’s get Hatchi HOME. ❤️🐾 — Akira Animal RescueWe step in when others step away If funds raised exceed Hatchi’s final boarding, transportation, veterinary and travel expenses, the remaining funds will support the care of other dogs at Akira Animal Rescue.
