🐾 Meet Arwen 🐾 Every dog that comes through our doors has a story. Arwen&#39;s story is still being written. For quite some time, Arwen survived as a street dog. We don&#39;t know everything she&#39;s been through, but we can see pieces of it in the way she watches the world. She&#39;s shy. She&#39;s a little jumpy. She&#39;s cautious with new experiences. But she&#39;s also incredibly sweet. Despite everything life has thrown at her, she still wants to trust. Recently, we received news we were hoping we wouldn&#39;t hear. Arwen tested heartworm positive. The good news? Heartworm disease is treatable. The difficult news? Treatment is expensive.&nbsp; Between her initial veterinary appointments, medications, injections, follow-up care, food, enrichment during months of required crate rest, transportation to and from appointments, and all the day-to-day care she&#39;ll need while she heals, we&#39;re hoping to raise $3,000 to carry Arwen through her recovery. That&#39;s a big number. But when we break it down, it isn&#39;t just paying for injections. It&#39;s paying for the quiet moments when she learns she&#39;s safe. It&#39;s paying for puzzle toys and enrichment to help her through months of restricted activity. It&#39;s paying for food in her bowl, gas in the tank to get her to appointments, medications that will help her heal, and every step between &quot;heartworm positive&quot; and &quot;ready for a forever home.&quot; We&#39;ve said it before, and we&#39;ll say it again:Rescue isn&#39;t just about saving a dog.It&#39;s about giving them the chance to truly recover.
