Hi FoKs (friends of Kunal), Today is Kunal's 55th b-day. Even tho he isn't on social media, I am leveraging his much better social capital to raise funds for The Commons, the building Henry will be moving into next year.  I never thought that Henry would be able to remain in our little piece of paradise when Kunal and I could no longer take care of him .... Collaborative Community Housing Initiative (CCHI) to the rescue. It has been a long road. Thank you to those of you who have contributed to previous CCHI fundraising campaigns. Our collective fundraising and advocacy work came to fruition. CCHI purchased a building in Highland Park. And Kunal and I purchased a unit in that building for Henry. The fundraising ain't over. The building needs to be transformed from a closed memory care facility into 50 fabulous small apartments with community rooms. CCHI is hosting The Commons' groundbreaking on Friday, July 18th at 2pm and launching our Keys to Connection campaign to achieve this transformation. It sucks to have to constantly fundraise from your friends. I wish we lived in a world where supporting adults like Henry was a built in priority. Until we get there, we are lucky to be surrounded by overly generous people who care and don't take it personally that I only get 1/2 way thru my thank you notes.
