Our Story Travel Visions Aloha for the Blind is breaking barriers on Oʻahu. Many blind and visually impaired adults spend years isolated after losing their vision &mdash; often believing adventures like swimming with dolphins, visiting cultural sites, or going whale watching are out of reach. We&rsquo;re here to prove otherwise. Each month, TVA provides free, fully accessible adventures that bring joy and empowerment to our blind community. We&rsquo;ve gone whale watching, explored historic sites, toured museums and gardens, and opened doors many thought were closed forever. Every event includes braille and audio materials, trained sighted volunteers, and transportation support to ensure no one is left behind. Just as important as the activities themselves, our events create a sense of normalcy and camaraderie. Participants describe them as stress-free, supportive, and liberating &mdash; a chance to laugh, build friendships, and feel truly included again. Now, with the City &amp; County of Honolulu&rsquo;s $150,000 Grant-in-Aid contract beginning October 1, 2025, we have the chance to reach even more people and make an even greater impact. From swimming with dolphins to exploring the Polynesian Cultural Center and guided bus tours, we are proving that vision loss doesn&rsquo;t mean the adventure ends. Because this contract is reimbursement-based, we need $12,500 in bridge funding to cover upfront expenses so we can continue the contract and invoice the City. This ensures the full $150,000 grant goes directly into creating life-changing opportunities for blind adults on Oʻahu.
