I never imagined that the words &ldquo;you have cervical cancer&rdquo; would become part of my story. I also never imagined that surviving cervical cancer would open a new door for me to use my experience, my voice, and what I have learned to help someone else. I am incredibly honored to have been selected to attend the Gynecological Cancer Survivors Retreat and Advocacy Training, powered by Cervivor School, taking place September 24&ndash;27, 2026, in Scottsdale, Arizona. For me, this is BIG. I am not attending simply as someone who survived cervical cancer. I am going as a woman who wants to understand more, learn more, become a stronger advocate, and come home better equipped to educate, encourage, support, and assist others who may find themselves facing a gynecological cancer diagnosis.Cancer changes you. There is the medical side of it, but there is also the emotional side, the family side, the financial side, the fear, the recovery, and the process of figuring out what life looks like afterward. I know some of those feelings personally now. That is one of the reasons this opportunity means so much to me. This retreat brings together survivors of gynecological cancers to learn, connect, heal, and strengthen our ability to advocate. I will have an opportunity to learn from other survivors, advocates, and leaders while receiving training that I can bring back to my own community. And anyone who knows me knows one thing about me: when I learn something that can help somebody else, I don&#39;t keep it to myself. I want to use what I learn to help women understand the importance of knowing their bodies, asking questions, advocating for themselves, getting appropriate screenings and medical care, understanding available resources, and knowing they do not have to navigate a cancer journey alone. Why I Am FundraisingAlthough I have been selected to attend this incredible opportunity, there are travel and other expenses associated with getting to Scottsdale and participating in the retreat. My fundraising goal is $1,000 to help offset expenses such as airfare and transportation, travel-related costs, meals and incidentals not covered by the program, and other necessary expenses associated with attending.Every contribution helps.
