A single place setting with a POW-MIA flag draped over the chair sits on a table adorned with a rose and candle, against a dark blue background.

The Sons of The American Legion Squadron 72 in Aberdeen, North Carolina is raising funds to purchase a POW/MIA Ceremony Table Kit that will be placed on display in local restaurants and community locations throughout our area. This powerful display serves as a lasting reminder that thousands of American service members were taken Prisoner of War (POW) or remain Missing in Action (MIA), and that their sacrifice must never be forgotten. Every empty place setting tells a story. Every symbol on the table represents a promise that our nation will continue to remember and account for those who never returned home. Your donation will help Squadron 72 purchase a professional POW/MIA Ceremony Table Kit that can be displayed year-round throughout Moore County and surrounding communities, educating the public and inspiring conversations about the sacrifices made by America's military heroes. Why This Project Matters Many people recognize military holidays, but fewer understand the significance of the POW/MIA remembrance tradition. The POW/MIA Missing Man Table symbolizes:

The white tablecloth representing the purity of their motives.

The single red rose representing the blood they shed and the loved ones who keep the faith.

The yellow ribbon symbolizing continued hope for their return.

The empty chair representing their absence.

The inverted glass indicating they cannot share a toast.

The slice of lemon reminding us of their bitter fate.

The pinch of salt representing tears shed by families awaiting answers.

By placing these displays in local restaurants and businesses, we create opportunities for veterans, families, and community members to learn and reflect on the ongoing mission to account for all missing American service members.
