This year, we researched Hawksbill Sea Turtles, which are critically endangered and on the verge of extinction. During our research, we learned that plastic pollution is a significant threat, and sea turtles are dying due to plastic in the ocean. We are determined to make a difference and help the sea turtles. This year’s theme is SUBMERGED: During the SUBMERGED℠ season, FIRST LEGO League teams use creative thinking and LEGO® technology to explore the layers of the ocean and bring their learnings to the surface. In exploring the oceans, we discovered the vast marine biodiversity and learned about endangered species like the Hawksbill Sea Turtle, which faces numerous challenges. Plastic pollution is one of the major threats to these turtles, and we are determined to help by creating innovative solutions. Our Solutions<ol><li style="font-family:Roboto;box-sizing:inherit">App - The Pineapple Preserve: An innovative, interactive app currently in development to help protect sea turtles.</li><li style="font-family:Roboto;box-sizing:inherit">Raise Awareness: We plan to hold bake sales and awareness drives, including at the Memphis Zoo.</li><li style="font-family:Roboto;box-sizing:inherit">Promote Conservation Efforts: Advocating for change and supporting ongoing conservation initiatives.</li></ol> What We’ve Done and Plan to DoPlastic Clean-Up DrivesWe participated in a community clean-up drive and are planning another one to help remove plastic from rivers, which eventually flow into the ocean. Join us on our next clean-up drive ! Awareness CampaignsWe plan to leverage technology to spread awareness. We are leveraging our parents connections to reach as many folks as we can We organized a bake sale in our local community and plan to hold more events at public parks and library ( pending permits) to engage the community and promote our cause.
