The surgeon started the procedure. When he exposed the break in preparation to place the plate and pins on her tibia, he found something unexpected. All of the ligament attachments between the Tibia and Femur had detached. This means that if the fracture was repaired her knee joint would be unstable causing chronic pain, which would need surgical repair in the future as well. Phone calls were made from the operating room and the decision was made to amputate her leg. The day after surgery, she is back at the rescue foster's home, recovering. She’s running and playing, finally pain free!  It’s not the ending we’d hoped for but amputation was her best bet for a normal pain free life. She’s ready for adoption and looking for her furever home. We’re thankful for all who donated!  It’s each of you who makes  dreams come true. 😍
