A cracked tombstone with "PLEASE DO NOT EMBALM ME" inscribed on it sits in a grassy graveyard with a skull at its base, all set against a dark, textured background.

At Die Well Death Education, we are helping people do just that: learn about and prepare for death. By educating people about their options for end-of-life and after-death care, they learn that they HAVE OPTIONS. People don't have options if they don't know what their options are. Armed with this knowledge and resources, people can engage with their mortality and prepare for their death, both as a way to better live the remainder of their lives in a more intentional and meaningful way, and to increase their chances of experiencing a good death by having the death experience they desire. Die Well Death Education has two core operating philosophies that are non-negotiables:

Non-Negotiable #1 - Die Well Death Education programming is free for all attendees. It’s hard enough to get people to talk about death, never mind if you charge them money for it. Not only does a fee immediately dissuade people from attending, but it also changes the whole dynamic of the offering – and not in a beneficial way. Equally important is the fact that a fee-based offering excludes a large portion of the population who need this information just as much as everyone else – if not more so.

Non-Negotiable #2 - Attendees are provided with hard-copy resource materials to best prepare for a good death - most notably, the Die Well Death Education "Purple Packet" - at no cost to them. If people leave with the expectation that they then need to go online to access the resource material discussed in the presentation, which would also often require the ability and resources to print what is needed, etc., it is very likely not going to happen. However, if people walk away with what they need, they are far more likely to do the recommended work & preparation, and having the information tangibly visible is an additional motivator to get it done.

In order to continue and grow this community death education and outreach - ideally throughout the state of Maine to all communities - we need help from people and organizations like you. How you can help further our mission:

Make a Tax-Deductible Donation: Every dollar counts.
