In Memory of Ben Flexner

John Benjamin Flexner, age 44, passed away on April 15, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of strength, laughter, and deep compassion. Whether he was cracking a well-timed joke or offering a listening ear, Ben had a gift for making people feel seen and valued. A long distance runner, Ben found solace in pounding the pavement and hitting the trails. Running wasn't just a hobby - it was a space to breathe, to reflect, to be free. When running became more difficult, Ben knew something was wrong but struggled to find a doctor who could figure out what it was.

In early 2024, Ben was diagnosed with the ultra-rare vascular sarcoma Epithelioid Hemangioendothelioma (EHE), which has a prevalence of less than one in a million people worldwide. Within minutes of receiving his diagnosis we were on the website for The EHE Foundation, which became a valuable resource to us as we navigated the path forward. Always one to put others before himself, Ben immediately joined the patient registry and became passionate about contributing tissue for research purposes. He wanted to do everything in his power to help make this journey easier for other EHE patients and their families in the future. With this in mind, we ask that you honor Ben's memory with a donation to The EHE Foundation.
